Dr Robert Walker
A graduate of the University of Adelaide, Bob is a general practitioner with a special interest in the health and welfare of children and adolescents. Gaining a Certificate of Aviation Medicine in 1994, Bob is a Medical Examiner for the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. He is also a member of Sports Medicine Australia with a special interest in junior athletics, school rowing and diving. He was awarded a Fellowship of the Australian Medical Association in 2002 for service to general practice and he is a Supervisor for General Practice Training Tasmania.

Dr Sue Cherry
Dr Sue Cherry
With more than 40 years in varied general practice including obstetrics and anaesthetics and working as a rural GP in country NSW. Dr Cherry received a Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1986. She was the Chief Medical Officer for West Australian Family Planning Association until 2000 and was involved in teaching and clinical work whilst still working part-time as a GP. Dr Cherry moved to Tasmania in 2005 to pursue work with the Specialist Gynaecology Centre in Hobart and Launceston until their closure in 2017. Gardening and travel are also part of her very busy life.

Dr Susan McKenzie
Dr Susan McKenzie
Susan is a graduate of the University of Tasmania and completed further education at Guilford University in England where she developed an interest in community health and preventative medicine. Since returning to Tasmania in 1985, Susan has balanced a busy family life with a very comprehensive general practice. She has a special interest in preventative health and women’s health. Tennis, cooking and travel are all continuing interests.

Professor Mark Nelson
Professor Mark Nelson
Mark Nelson has fellowships in general practice and public health. He is Professor and Chair, Discipline of General Practice, School of Medicine and Senior Member Menzies Institute for Medical Research where he is also medical director of the Blood Pressure Clinic, both at the University of Tasmania. He is also an Adjunct Professor, Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Monash University, Melbourne. His research interests are around large-scale clinical trials in in primary care. He has 273 peer reviewed medical publications, has been awarded more than $80 million in competitive grants and is a principal investigator on the NIH sponsored ASPREE / ASPREE-XT study (N = 19,000) investigating if aspirin extends healthy active life, and the NHMRC sponsored STAREE (recruitment to date >5000) similarly investigating if statins extend healthy active life. He also has been an author on multiple guidelines for cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment.

Dr Hannah Kelly

Dr Hannah Kelly
Hannah grew up in Tasmania graduating from the University of Tasmania in 2007. Since then she has completed a Child Health Diploma through Westmead Children’s Hospital, her Sexual Health Certificate and received her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of general Practice in 2016. She has a special interests in paediatrics, women’s health and sexual health. Hannah currently works part time, outside of work she is a busy mum of two young daughters and enjoys relaxing with family and friends, fitness and travel.

Dr Jackson graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2011.
She was awarded a Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2016 and is dedicated to teaching the next generation of General Practitioners by also working at the UTAS. Her clinical interests include pediatrics and women’s health

Dr Peta Gardam

Dr Peta Gardam
Dr Peta Gardam completed her medical training at The University of Queensland in 2013 followed by 2 residency years in QLD. She now calls Hobart home since moving here in 2016 to complete her GP training. Dr Gardam has special interests in all aspects of women’s health, sexual health and being involved with education of future doctors. Outside of work she loves spending time with her family including her young son.

Dr Jay Shoemaker

Dr Shoemaker graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2015 and worked at the Royal Hobart Hospital for three years, gaining experience in a wide range of specialities before moving to general practice. Some of the areas he is most interested in include cardiovascular health, urgent medical issues, men’s health and occupational health. Jay enjoys general practice as it allows him to deal with a broad range of medical issues and the chance to get to know his patients. Outside of work he enjoys reading, technology, music and coffee.

Dr Ayush Srivastava
Dr Ayush Srivastava
Dr Ayush Srivastava is a friendly and compassionate GP, specialising in the areas of skin cancer and vasectomy. He has been practising as a doctor in Australia for over 10 years and has worked in different surgical specialities in Tasmania, mastering useful surgical skills before moving into general practice, and completing his GP training with James Cook University, Queensland.
He has developed a special interest in skin cancer and has done extensive skin cancer courses in Australia. He is passionate about early skin cancer detection and treatment and has a comprehensive approach for getting the best outcome for his patients. He is experienced and skilled in doing complex skin excisions and procedures, and has been offering skin cancer treatment in the Greater Hobart region for over 5 years.

Paediatricians

Dr Sanda Smith
Dr Sanda Smith
Sanda is a Consultant Paediatrician, sub-specialized in the field of Community Child Health (Developmental Paediatrician). Sanda is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Paediatrics) and Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health, U.K. She completed her Medical Degree (MBBS) at the University of Medicine 1 Yangon.
She has extensive experience in developmental paediatrics along with Sleep, Autism, Developmental Delay, ADHD, Continence problems and other learning and behavioural difficulties. She worked as a Community Paediatrician in the U.K for 12 years. She has also worked in New South Wales, Royal Hobart Hospital and St Giles.
Sanda is qualified to administer ADOS II, a formal Autism diagnostic tool, performs autism assessments for children of all ages and is an accredited facilitator of Emotional-Based Social Skills Training for children with Autism.
Sanda is qualified to administer the Griffiths III so referrals for formal developmental assessment for children under 6 years of age are welcome. She has also completed a Diploma in Child and Adolescent Mental Health through the University Of Leicester, U.K. and is a certified sleep practitioner.

Dr Geoff Donegan

Dr Geoff Donegan
Geoff grew up in country Western Australia and, after completing a science degree in Physics and Mathematics, worked as a speech writer in Canberra, Sydney and Perth for ten years. He then studied medicine at Flinders University, graduating with honours in 2001. He began his early paediatric training at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide, completing further training at Princess Margret Hospital for Children in Perth and The Royal Hobart Hospital.
Long fascinated by the emotional and intellectual development of the paediatric brain, Geoff’s clinical emphasis is on children with complex behavioural and emotional difficulties, working to optimize their social, family and academic engagement and support their self-esteem. Geoff has post graduate qualifications in Paediatric Rheumatology and also works within The Royal Hobart’s Paediatric Diabetes Team.
Geoff is passionate about learning from children and their families and communicating his experience. Every year he educates local school students about sleep and screen-time and parents about ADHD, Autism and engaging with their children. He has presented workshops for paediatricians and other health professionals on ADHD and other topics in Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart and Launceston.

Dr Mudasir Mushtaq
Dr Mudasir Mushtaq
Mudasir is a Consultant Paediatrician with broad paediatric experience from newborn babies through to adolescents. He has special interest in paediatric respiratory medicine and behavioural paediatrics and cares for inpatients at Hobart Private Hospital and Calvary Lenah Valley Hospital. He completed his paediatric training at The Royal Hobart Hospital and The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. Mudasir is a Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) – paediatrics and child health division.
During his paediatric training Mudasir has worked in a number of paediatric specialities ranging from paediatric emergency to neonatal intensive care, community paediatrics and general paediatrics. He comes with extensive Paediatric experience in Tasmania, Victoria and overseas.
Mudasir is married to Tayiba, also a doctor and has a young daughter, Mahveen who keeps him busy and active. Outside of work, Mudasir enjoys spending time with his family, travelling and playing and watching cricket.

James O’Meara
James is a Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist specializing in the assessment and treatment of sports injuries and exercise rehabilitation. He also has a special interest in patients with chronic conditions and arthritis management.
